Mooncrest Films is a dynamic group of six filmmakers. All graduates from Queen's University Belfast, they've now pooled their talents together under a company after working on a number of projects together in their final year of study.

Mooncrest is all about creating high-quality, narrative focused content. Whether it's music videos, advertisements, short films or documentaries, Mooncrest prides itself at being up to any challenge. If you have a story to tell, then Mooncrest is hungry for the opportunity.

Meet the Team

Jasper Banerjee

Director

Jasper Banerjee is a British-Indian Director working across Belfast and London. After graduating with a first class honours from Queen’s University Belfast in Film Studies & Production, he has gone on to study at the NFTS Directors series. His work takes a distinctly empathic approach in exploring human physical and emotional experiences to make deeply affecting cinema.

Alex Donaldson

Producer & Director

Alex Donaldson is an emerging filmmaker from Northern Ireland and a recent QUB Film Studies graduate with writing, producing and directing experience. Over the last three years, he has worked on several pieces spanning documentary, narrative and music video. As a producer, he utilises creative project softwares such as Milanote and Studio Binder. He’s continually developing his management, creative and logistical skills to become a more versatile, ambitious and innovative producer.

Jamie Robbins

Director of Photography & Colourist

Jamie Robbins is a British-Chinese cinematographer based in Belfast and London. Since graduating from Queen's University in Film Studies and Production, he has worked on several independent productions as DOP. More recently, he worked as a camera operator for an upcoming Netflix documentary and has also worked as unit photographer and camera trainee on productions with BBC, NI Screen & The BFI Network. An experienced and passionate fine art photographer, Jamie won the '2020 ArtClassified Creators Best Photo Award', also featuring on Fstoppers' 'Top 10 Photographers', as well as his work earning publications from over 16 digital magazines.

James Poston

Director of Photography & Editor

James Poston is a cinematographer and editor from Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Having recently graduated with a 1st Class Honours in Film Studies from QUB, he was awarded ‘Best Film Editing’ at the inaugural Norn Iron Film Festival for the short documentary Kirill, which he pitched, crewed, shot, and edited. James has a passion for working with other creatives to tell compelling stories, shown in his first experience with documentary filmmaking, 'When Mum Talked to the Lamp'. Since then, James has worked as a camera operator and camera assistant with Relapse Pictures in Belfast, gaining experience with Sony cinema cameras on more high-profile documentaries.

Mark McKibbin

Sound Designer & Composer

Mark McKibbin is a recent QUB Music graduate, currently working as a freelance musician and audio engineer. He has experience as a boom operator on set, and also in many elements of audio post production. He has worked on a range of short films from documentaries to narrative pieces, with roles including score composition, dialogue editing, SFX design, foley recording, and audio mixing.

Max Blair

Writer

Max Blair is a Scottish Born writer currently living in Belfast. A first class honours graduate from Queen's University Belfast, Max has a passion for writing in worlds that have more than one story to tell. No matter the project, he is dedicated to telling stories that aren't afraid to tread off the beaten path and push into mediums that go beyond short films. There's a story in every piece of filmmaking, and Max is dedicated to finding it in every Mooncrest project.
